Lake Devenoge is a 112 acre  lake in Highland, just outside of Eldred. Unlike its neighbors Highland and Mohican Lakes, Devenoge is non-motorboat, giving it a decidedly quieter, more secluded feel.  It is a spring fed lake, with a sandy bottom, which many of the lakes in Sullivan County do not have. There is a casual homeowners association with a nominal fee to use the main beach. (The beach is the only access for owners off the lake.)

Devenoge was settled in the early 1900's by a wealthy French family (The Devenoges). They had grand plans of a large French style winery which never really got off the ground. They also built a golf course around the lake, which lasted through the second world war.

 Houses on and around Devenoge are quite varied. On one side you have smaller, more typical cabin style homes with prices ranging from 250K to 350K, and on the other, there are larger, newer lakefronts with homes 400K and up. Off lake homes can be in the 150K range, and can be a nice less expensive option.  

Because of its size, and the fact that it is sort of sandwiched between larger lakes, Devenoge can be over looked. However it is a very clean mountain lake, and can be the perfect fit for a rather discerning lakefront buyer on a bit of a budget.
